what is the disadvantage of the portal lamps?
0:37 Blender Guru! How to make this particle animation? curves? particles? how it goes all rays in the lamp after the collision?
Thank you so very much, What happens when it is an interior but in the night with lamps? The solution to that is on the Sample settings on the Clamp options if you had added an Indirect map, then add 0.5 to the indirect clamp, and noise is reduced, and fireflies disappear without compsotting nodes. My question is: If I add that trick on the night interior scene,it will reduce the noise?
30 days!! Jeez
Didn't possible to configure the intensity of the portal light?
ITS RENDERS BLACK..:(
But if I want the color of the light to be a different color? Also can it go through glass?
Great, but I have tried using portals many many times and all my attempts failed >>> the render takes longer time, and the result is more noisy when I am using portals, which doesn't make sense!!
I don't know which step I am missing ..
I downloaded Andrew's file, and the portals seems to work fine in it. However, when I want to reproduce the effect I am always failing ..
Omg, that was really useful
Hi Andrew. Quick question. How can I still see the HDR trough the window when using light portals?
WOW. I should have seen this ages ago…
hmm… I don't have this option – portal…
Just saw this video while looking for something online. I have to say Andrew using particles to explain the ray movements was a super smart idea!
holy bananas Andrew, always so helpful it's impressive! Thanks 🙂
Can we use portals on every lite source like lamps and sun lamps in the scene, would it make sense?
i try this in blender 2.78, is that if i enable portal, that area lamp lose all emission and no more a lamp?
Dude you are the best.
OMG this 2 minute video save so much time of my life
is that noise or dust on my screen ?
Greatest tip ! I love your videos !
Great tutorial and great music!!! Hahaha it like some vintage effect in this tutorial with that kind of music! Good! And thanks for so many wisdom you share with us Andrew.
nice music 🙂
Honestly thought this was an ad until near the end.
This is gold!
genius
Just wowww
Old But Gold Oh man You are Freaking awesome what ever i search about Blender i found it on your Channel
It's not working like on video. I love Blender, but hate the fucking noise of Cycles. And no any solution after many years of development.
OH MY GOD!! Thank you!!!
there must be a feature called online render
What is best. Use area lamp with portal enabled or use a sun lamp outside that shines through the window? What Looks most photorealistic?
Hey dude, I used portals in my scene, it's a boxed off room with only your skies package as lighting. It's super noisy after rendering at 10,000 samples. Any idea where I'm going wrong?
Can I use normal lights in addition inside the room?
Is this akin to a bidirectional rendering model?
man i wish i had a slightly powerful laptop so i can orgasm
Ok, I don't do these graphical things myself, but yet I find myself watching the videos. :p
Great stuff!
Is there any reason not to have the portal lamps implemented as a standard when doing these renderings? Are there any side effects?
i need to subscribe
Ok but this checkbox is long gone now what do I do? And do I even need to bother if I don't use hdr maps but sunskylightfake-skylight-aka-area-lamp instead?
can I just kiss you))))
Thanks so much andrew really helps.
You helped me the third time in these two days!
