Autodesk Maya 2012 Tutorial- Game Character Part 1. In this tutorial series we have been given the task to create a 2000 polygon game character with a 512×512 color map. In part 1 of the tutorial, we box model the basic shape of the character and learn some basic elements in the base creation of the character.

  1. I think I show how to fix that on part 2 or 3 so don't worry about it for now. Basically select the edge loop from the middle and the top of the screen type 0 on x.

  2. reflection messes up when you extrude areas between the two sides. It will sometimes select the whole mesh when you extrude or select extra geometry. I prefer to disable it before doing an extrusion between 2 sides of the mesh to prevent any sort of problem.

  3. I am just extremely audibly irritable, its kind of annoying in its self. I appreciate the effort that would have gone into it though. You have obviously helped a lot of people.

  4. sometimes you may have faces or edges overlapping in 1 mode and you may not notice it, if you work on smooth mode you can fix things like that. It is good practice to go back and forth to make sure there are no geometry problems.

  5. it depends how bad it is. if you have hole you can use the append to polygon tool and click one edge and then another to create a face. You can also select an edge and go to mesh – fill hole, and then clean up the geometry. If you ever want me to look at your file for some feedback you can always contact me through my website.
