  1. Srsly ppl, you’re getting a free lecture on how to light your objects AND then if you’re lazy; there’s a reasonably priced add-on that can save you a lot of time.
    Stop whining, stop expecting the world to hand out everything for free and listen to all the great (FREE) tips

    ….btw You read that right: Reasonably priced. I was always fooling around for 2hours per scene with getting the lighting the way I want, now its just 15 mins of tweaking and done. With the average hour rate of a self-employed designer, this really is a no-brainer.

  2. I'm not a fan of blue/orange. Feels saturated and overstylized to me. So every time I hear that blue/orange is the go-to, I get irritated. For that really punchy stuff, I've been a huge fan of red/blue although it can be pretty extreme. Something about orange man.. I've never liked it except in the context of autumn.

  3. I had to put you on 1.25 speed as always but it was a good investment of 35 minutes. The lighting plugin is great too, it can shave off a ton of wasted time for people that are perfectionists like myself.

  4. You don't have to buy that addon guys, Andrew has a tutorial about how to use hdr images with node editor. What he sells is simplicity and haste nothing more. If you need it you can buy it but its not something that you have to buy.

    about the eye catch-light ,what if the light source isn't in the right position to be reflected in the eye? ,does this means i have to adjust it?, and what if i did and then it changed how my background looks,?,will it be more beater to just model the eye secular like other,s do? there is alot of what if !!! sorry for that

  6. Well, here's a little tip: Try not to use lights the exact opposite color of a texture. If you're using a perfectly red light and a blue object, the object will barely be lit, because it absorbs the red light. It CAN be used, though, if you're going for a more abstract look, or if your object is reflective. You just have to be careful.

  7. Hey, you seem pretty good at making 3d models. So I'm wondering.
    Is it possible to make advanced 3d character like you use in this video in only Photoshop?
    My guess: no

    But a guy told me its super easy and works good

  8. Was an interesting vid until we get to the 40min mark, and then it's a pure infomercial… Sadly the first of you vid's I've had to dislike… 40 minutes in you mention it requires an overpriced addon, where you toggle presets and not actually light anything in the "demonstration".

Thank you for the tutorials, just 1 question. how can the realtime render so fast? because I saw it was not actually very fast, list 30 step for a second? but the model becoming very clear on the viewport. how to do it? when i am rotating my view, the model are very noisy even in 80- 100 step. it is because it was a low poly model with texture normal map etc?

  10. This video should not be thought as a Tutorial with Ads, but an Ad with very useful tips/tutorials.. because we get to appreciate more on the latter.. And I bet to those who kept on complaining about this video that it is full of ads had never even contributed anything that is free and useful but are very good in asking and receiving.. Anyway, I thank you +Blender Guru for giving your experience based tips despite of those critiques who spend their lives complaining..

  11. i think its a really good addOn…and i also think its the right time to build up my own plugin with this reference:)…130$..a bit much i think for some peoples…not too much for the plugin and the great work…:)

  12. I came here to learn how to light a model. Apparently, the answer is to pay $127. To an extent I'm not being 100% serious, because the theory part of this video was actually helpful, but come on…
