How to Improve Your Wide Angle Landscape Photos

Wide angles lenses are very common for landscape photography, but they can be tricky to use effectively. This excellent video tutorial discusses how to improve your wide angle landscape photos.

Coming to you from Perea Photography, this great video tutorial discusses how to create better landscape photos with wide angle lenses. Despite wearing a hat with a terrible baseball team’s logo on it, Perea offers a ton of helpful advice. One tip that I really appreciated was lowering your perspective to eliminate the midground. We talk a lot about how getting down low can afford you perspectives that are more interesting simply because they are not what we are used to seeing at eye level, but thinking about it from a perspective of expanding or contracting the midground is really novel. In particular, since in landscape photography, we often find a great background that we try to balance with some kind of foreground element, having the ability to eliminate some of a rather boring midground can quickly improve your shots rather substantially. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Perea.
