decimate is for video games with a limited polycount
something i'd recommend for non metallic objects would be an add shader.
what about a waterfall cave?
I want to ask is lenovo youa 720 or samsung notebook 9 pro good for blender?
Very thanks to your very good tutorial
im done but how do i make this an image?
i mean including the glare stuff
My version of blender doesn't have the sky texture option so I can't do it. what a waste of time. I'm disappointed.
I went to cheddar gorge! I brittish the bus tour was awesome
Decimate is the replacement for the poly-reduction plug-in, doesn't work very well, best to poly reduce by hand.
lol 6 hours rendering
5 hr of friggin work

Displacement modifier or displacement material output, what are the differences?
This was exactly what I was searching for. Though spying on your tuts for quite some time now. This one directly hits the "subscribe"-spot. Thanks for sharing your knowledge & your time!

I never knew your name was francis delfino!
you prolly know this by now but, as far as i know, the decimate modifier is used to lower the poly count of a mesh, for example, if you sculpt it in blender and then you want to use it later in unity, its mostly to be used videogames.
I've never seen so many people so passionate about geology.
the link for the video on his webpage is an old one… just change "/videos" into "/tutorials"
so it's: https://www.blenderguru.com/tutorials/how-to-make-a-cave
U R da best Mr Guru.
Thank you for the tutorials, I have learned sooooo much, and for this I thank you.
stalagtites hang on tight to the cieling, stalagmites might reach the top of the cave.
Did anyones UVs disappear? I wasn't able to get the cave textures back. But, the displacement game out really well.
why U no portals?!
i love your work and I'm just starting out here but, the URL for the files doesn't seem to be working T_T, I was so psyched to start applying my materials
Help me please! When I go to the world tab, I don´t see any button saying "use nodes"
Is this scene ready to be animated? Because it looks like a heavy scene to render multiple frames.
A big long…………
stick.
1:50 Yey, chedder! I've been there!
Welp. Project looks great but you're talking way to fast and you should explain more. :I Not sure if this is for beginners or not but I gave up after 7minutes.
what graphic card do you use? for me its 100 times slower :/
I thought this was inspired by sintel apparantly its the other way
I have made a cave mesh for my game using stuff from this, but I feel like even though it's got a lot of geometry, it's not very big. I haven't even subdivided it.
chocolate bar???!!??? nice what did you eatten or drinked before recording tutorial xDDDDD
12:34, in this situation you could have used the "to sphere" tool to make it circular(i don't know if it was there or not in 2.69)
can you show how to make memes
Thanks, learning a lot from these videos!
hi,
how can i bake the normal map from the material and export to unity 5 standard shader
Not a starter tutorial impossible to follow with noob skills xD
"without further a Jew"
When i Render my scene it renders very distorted is there a specific graphic card i should have?
My rendered image of the cave always looks so grainy and never clear, my crystals never show up, and my mushrooms look like blue dots…I have the most updated blender but there are more uses of some things and lack of other uses. I'm unsure on how to fix it…I follow the instructions exactly, maybe I missed something??
Awesome tutorial though!
The column is actually formed with a junction of a stalaktite (the one from the top) and a stalagmite (the one from the bottom. As drops of water fall of from stalaktites it forms stalagmites at the bottom 😉 so usually the column is wider both at the top and at the bottom. Nice tutorial though!
