Maya: Hypershade Basics

A read a posting in a Maya forum on Facebook the other day, asking what the Hypershader is about?

There are Maya experts who use it every day, and others who never use it. Certainly, when you deal with complex shading networks, you need the Hypershade window.

So this tutorial is a basic introduction to the Hypershader. We don’t do much more than mapping a checker texture to the colour of torus – using the Hypershade window only.

There is a related window called the Node Editor, which is not specific to shaders and rendering: https://youtu.be/TKrYeMqrS1w

  1. How to prevent showing those unneeded SG nodes? I need just a material node like in 3ds max in graph. It's very hard to do something when I have 20 materials and each of them connected to additional 20 SG nodes.
