Photography tutorial: ISO, Aperture, shutter speed

Photography is all about the correct exposure. This video demonstrates the relationship between aperture, shutter speed and ISO and how by changing one, you must change another to keep the correct exposure. Which you change is up to you depending on the creative effect you are looking for.

  1. Thats one of the best explanations given on youtube for this vicious circle.. so I think the best camera is the camera with a great resolution and lowest noise at high ISOs like the Sony a7s
or does it depend on the sensor quality? or sensor size Full frame vs APS-C? What do you think?

  2. Gone from a Panasonic Compact in 2009 to a Panasonic FZ48 Bridge in 2012 and now just recently bought [ thanks to a generous donation from Soph my gf for xmas ]…a Nikon D3300 [ http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/cameras/digital-cameras/dslr-cameras/nikon-d3300-dslr-camera-with-18-55-mm-ed-ii-f-3-5-5-6g-and-55-200-mm-f-4-0-5-6g-telephoto-lens-10029673-pdt.html ].  Been watching a few vids on You Tube as now leaving the world of Auto behind as not always been happy with the results.  Generally have a good eye for a pic, just needing the help and advice to achieve the best results.  Tend to take pics of landscapes, waves etc  or anything that catches the eye tbh and then mostly during the summer attend supercar events and take more than a few pics of them.  Have watched some of your vids so far and very impressed with how you come across.  Will keep watching especially as you have the same camera. Very helpful.  Keep up the good work!  Andy.

  3. Great tutorial. I'm a complete beginner to DSLR photography and have recently purchased a Nikon D3300. Aperture, shutter speed and ISO were alien to me. This tutorial is a great introduction to them. You explain everything very well and don't clutter the video with technical jargon. Many thanks.
