Second Life Photography Tutorials – cutting out from a white background

Hello! My name is Katey Coppola. Sorry.

This is a short tutorial to tell you how I cut things out of a white background, because damnit if I can make green screening work. And I’ve totally done Ryker’s tutorial like 200 times and nope, still nothing.

If this is rubbish and teaches you nothing, I’m sure we can both agree that it is somehow Suti’s fault.

Thanks for watching! Or not watching, whatever.

  1. I was fine until I got to the white halo part. That technique didn't work. Still have a ton of white around my person and the layer – remove white matting that someone else suggested didn't work either. The first part of the tutorial was amazing though. Thanks.

  2. Your white background needs to be full bright and for some reason white (rgb 255,255,255) can't be used because all the pic is totally back (firestorm viewer anyway, not sure about sl viewer), so I use 253, 253 ,253 which on full bright the background comes up white anyway and your avi is totally black.

  3. oh the part where it said hold Alt and click the white box at the bottom and press CTrl and C to copy it again and CTrl i right?? THE BLACK PICTURE DONT GO INTO THE WHITE BOX WITH THE COLOR PICTURE WHYYYYYYYYYYY!!??

  4. I had the exact same problem, with turning full bright one, and turning the gamma all the way down, and it just showing black, untill i used grey instead of white, and tinted it untill it was like 1 point from white, which is essentially white.
The only problem is, (and i'm not sure this is related) when i used the alpha in PS it cut off huge chunks of the image, including the head.

Does anyone have any solutions to this?
