Photograph Of Jesus by Laurie Hill in association with the Getty Images Short & Sweet Film Challenge

Code Canyon

Short and Sweet has teamed up with Getty Images to launch a film challenge with a twist.
Getty Images approached producer Basil Stephens and Short and Sweet founder Julia Stephenson with the idea of setting up a film competition which would make use of images in Getty’s Hulton Archive. Stephenson drew from her in-depth knowledge of the short film arena to suggest a selection of talented filmmakers.
After picking out ten up-and-coming directors, she gave them the opportunity to pitch. Four of the filmmakers made it on to the shortlist and got the chance to realise their ideas. They were given three months to create their films.

The challenges aim was to highlight the breadth and depth of content available at the Hulton Archive, which offers a unique resource to filmmakers and creatives alike. But rather than set a rigid brief, the challenge offered key words and phrases as prompters to guide the filmmakers creativity. Examples of these prompters included discover our past, images that shape our future, still & moving imagery, ordinary people, ordinary things and extraordinary people, extraordinary things.

    BRAVO!!

This is a great video, one of the best short videos I've seen to date. Especially when you realize a bunch of archives could have been handled so badly. Great job! Even the narration is fantastic! Thanks to all.

There actually are plenty of pics of Jesus. They are drawn and look different from eachother a little bit but there are drawings.

@mosblest7 yes you did. You said that it was "a slap in the face of intelligent people whove blah blah balh" do i really need to quote youre own comment to you? So does that mean that you believe in the flood, too? lol

@grendelee Never said there aren't equally intelligent skeptics, some are in the Bible. My point is that the message of Jesus, beyond religious affections is REAL. It came from somewhere in the Jewish, Roman culture over 2000 years ago. It exist! Muslims, Jews and many others believe that Jesus or whatever you want to call him existed. God gives us a choice to follow or not, no one is brainwashed. I hope you are good person even if you don't know Christ. I follow him because I need his help.

Despite the carefree nature of the narrator, the film's unique visual language kept us engaged from top to bottom. As the photos came to life, so did the film. Kudos!

@Creepermatt Well Matt, there is archeological evidence for a great deal of the Old Testament and you only need the gospel (Matt,Mark,Luke,John) to follow Jesus Christ. Leviticus and other books are best understood in a Jewish kingdom near Eastern context. Jesus said if you love God (give thanks to your creator, live in humility) and other people as yourself (make peace and help others) you can have eternal hope.

@Rastamut um no atheism is a lack of belief. It's the idea that religion is superfluous, so places of worship arent necessary

You people need lives, coming on here to troll for and against religion. You clearly can't see that the artistic meaning of this isn't religious and this amazingly creative project which too months to probably make isn't receiving the compliments it deserves…

Youtube fights are kinda like real life war. People's beliefs are not the same, so BOOM!! everyone has to convince the other one to believe in the same things.

@GU5T4F How many of these painting were made after 100s or thousands of years after Jesus's death? 100%. Its incredibly obvious that after these certain characteristics of Jesus were established by early artists they were copied and duplicated countless times over. Even priests and ministers admit the characteristics of jesus were merely common attributes of a middle-eastern man during that time period.
