Here’s my first ever tutorial on how to create a facial rig using Autodesk Maya. In this video i cover creating and adding blend shapes, the joint tool, eye constraints and the set driven key tool.

Hi, first I wanna thx to your video. But, its confusing on 13.16, how you can move the joint to make the mouth open? Can you explain please. Thxxx
If this is youre realy first tutorial ever i may say you are born teacher then, amazing tutorial, clean, profesional, easy to follow and understand. Great job and huge thank you!!
Thanks a lot! One question (for anyone). For lip syncing or rather just moving lips, how would you go about doing this? Because the blend shapes are set to shapes you've already done. So how can you do this with moving lips? I'm new to this so it's a little confusing to wrap my head around it completely.
How do yo I get the tool that you used to model the tool because it isn't there
Great Video, Thank you!
amazing tutorial, so brillant and clear. Thanks!
This is not a facial rig, its a method to control blend shapes. A facial rig has bones located around the face to accommodate muscle shape changes. Its still a reasonably good tutorial, but its not a facial rigging one.
Awesome!! tutorial….

Thank you very much! simple and fast – great
very clear thank you
I'm in the process of modelling a full body character, am I able to rig the face with blend shapes if the body is attached?
is it possible to use the blend shapes with a head thats already attached to a body or would that mess with other joins when animating?
I don't get any color feedback when using the soft modification tool :/
great job on the tutorial great step by step work. really helped me on this issue. thumbs up to you

Did you ever remember to add any phonemes or extra mouth shapes to your character's facial rig, or did you forget about phonemes altogether?
This 3D Rigging Video can easily come in handy when I am looking for directions to follow, or looking for ideas for a character rig that I may create on my own…
Great job. Very helpful.
